I have been to beer republic twice both times very helpfull, i have bought 500g packs of different hops each visit, they have allowed me to have a mooch in the back where they store the hops i have never seen opened bails all have been vac packed and the smaller packs 100g and 250g in labelled bins. What i think they do is open the bail and vac pack into the amounts required as and when they can, then repack the bail.
I have only seen one young lad at the shop site doing the lot, making orders up, answering the phone, serving customers etc so this is also probably why there is a long delay in email responses

and when you go to the shop you can talk to the brewer who gives lots of sage advice and tips, and shows you round the brew room even if if he's half way through a brew.

Cant do enough for you. =D>

I've been a couple of times and they have been great, very helpful and willing to talk about brewing. I was invited around the back the first time I visited and witnessed the hop & grain store. The young chap was keen to discuss there hope stock and all the hops I saw were vac packed as he had to open a few I wanted to have a sniffter at. He then resealed these and gave me fresh packs of the ones I wanted.

I also had a good chat to the brewer when I collected my grain, even though he was busy he still made time for a talk and a quick tour, very polite and keen to share his knowledge.

They are not the cheapest for everything (for example see worcesterhopshop for sacks of Fawcetts Maris Otter under £25). But they are still pretty good I agree

I have taken a look at the worchester hop shop and yes they seem to be slightly cheaper but i got 15% discount from beer republic yesterday with using the promotion code SPANK making there M. otter £21.25 . I also phoned them to as if i could have 1 sack M. otter and 1 sack Pale malt as they do bairds pale but its not on the site. :)

I bought some hops from Beer Republic a short time ago as they were the only people who had them in stock. I bought quite a lot of them as well. I was quite disappointed in them. They were not as fresh as I have been used to from other suppliers. They were allegedly vac packed. I say allegedly as they were very loosely packed, and there was air inside the packs, this isn't a one off, I have 10 packs like that that are not tightly vac packed. My cheap vac packer does a better job.

I'll stick with my normal supplier from now on as I want the freshest and best quality ingredients I can get to go in my beer.

I hope their website is a bit more finished than it was last time I looked.
It was all a bit amateur. I hit a few dead links and I could not find their shipping prices (they are not on their "shipping" page...).

You have to go through all the order process to find out the shipping price, its a PITA.

Then you see its £15 delivery for a bag of malt and you realise you've just wasted your time.

They may have reduced the shipping along with their malt prices but i've never botherd to look.

Bairds Maris otter is £19.49 at worcester hop shop which I would say is miles cheaper rather than slightly cheaper than beerrepublic and if you do a search you will find that there has been a lot of unfavourable comments about Bairds malt regarding poor extract.
No one in their right mind would pay more for Bairds malt than Fawcetts.

Saxon257 has has only made a few posts and they just happen to be ALL about and very favourable to beer republic!! Pure coincidence of course!
I suggest beer republic start a genuine thread if they want to publicise their business but the fact that they have recently tried to charge ridiculous prices ( and still are doing so on some products) doesn't inspire confidence in buying from them!
