malt extract

Post by a.hoddie » Mon Dec 01, 2008 2:30 pm

I found a huge jar of malt extract in my local chemist and wondered if i could use it in one of my brews?,it's made by a company called potters and it says on the label that it is prepared by low temperature concentration to preserve the natural ingredients, using the finest quality of English malted barley. Is it suitible for brewing??-looks and smells similar to the stuff you get in a canned kit.

This question has been asked before but I don't think anyone has really answered. I reckon it'll make drinkable beer. Why not give it a go and let us know?

Thank's guys,i think i'll give it a bash-I'll probably use half dme and half this stuff and see how it turns out-i would use the whole jar but i think it'll make my beer a little too dark? but im not too sure so i think i'll tread a little carefully to begin with.
