I have read conflicting information on which English maltsters still produce floor-malted barley. I've read on this forum that there are only two left, one of which is Warminster. I think the other may be Thomas Fawcett, but I read in the latest issue of the American magazine Brew Your Own that Crisp still does floor-malting. This was in the article on mild ale by Jamil Zainasheff.
Anyone know for sure? The company's websites are rather vague about it.
Which malsters still do floor-malting?
Re: Which malsters still do floor-malting?
Fawcetts definitely still do floor malting and I believe Warminster do too. Tuckers I'm not so sure about.

I'm glad to hear it confirmed that Fawcett still does floor-malting, as that is the malt I am able to get here in Ohio, USA. Their website indicates that they operate both a floor-maltings and pneumatic drum malting. Their Maris Otter is my favourite, although I do use the Golden Promise on occasion.

From their website, http://www.edwintucker.com/Tuckers%20Ma ... e_Page.htm
"Tuckers Maltings is one of only a handful of floor Maltings that produces malt in the traditional way"

In the Warminster area you can see the roofs of many houses used to be maltings, as you drive in the westbury from warminster, this is especially so, and theres a house in Dilton marsh that has it too.
