A cocktail malt is probably just a mixture of different malts, but then I could be thinking too simply and totally wrong

It's a new variety of spring Barley

A local brewery use it and they tell me that extract rates are very good, which make sense when you are in the business to make a profit, perhaps not as important if you are a home brewer.
