It might have started with Adelscott Biere Au Malt De Whisky, the French beer made with peated whisky malt.
Agreed, there are a number of , er um....... people in the States that seem to think that peat malt is essential to a Scottish brew, idiots!! I have argued so many times that this was some micro brewer or HB'er making these recipes and everyone else just falling in line saying it was correct. It goes back to people not reading anything for themselves and just following along!! Ah, sorry, I must get off the soapbox! ](*,)

uh-oh that brings back very old (hazy) memories of a seriously good night in the South of France - never did understand why it tasted like that - are the grains different or treated in some way?
