It composts well, you can give it to someone with chickens/pigs or you can just spread it on the garden. I've never done the latter but I would expect it to be a real slug magnet.

Yes, check the link in my post.

As it happens, I've got someone coming round today, to collect yesterday's spent grain.

It can get pretty wiffy if you spread it on the garden too thickly . . . but spread out well and worked in to the surface of the soil and watered in it is much less so. . . . Not really noticed massive amounts of slugs on it though. . . . Or I also take ours up to the stable, depending on when I brew

Mine gets collected next day from a smallholder in the village who feeds her hens/composts it.

When I advertised it on freecycle, I got loads of offers of people willing to collect it from me actually.

All mine goes to the guy 3 doors away, who then gives it to his hens. Apparently they go mental for it. I get eggs in return :D . Guy across the road keeps racing pigeons so I offered him some, but I saw him a few days later and he said they wouldn't touch it. Hens-1,Pigeons-0.

I'm obviously doing something wrong, our neighbour must be a tight arse... I've fed his hens and given him beers to try...
Still NO eggs!!!

Might have to Freecycle it for a bit of payback!

Think I might Freecycle my next batch.

How do you advertise it on freecycle.

"Spent crushed barley going spare" ???

it makes great compost, I'd worry about rats using it as mulch

Rats do love it, it attracts them like magnets. But then they are good target practice after so thats a benefit in my book. I feed mine to my hens. The other day I put out half a 7kg batch (must have weighed 7kg with water absorption) and 6 hens scoffed the lot! Subsonic.

Spent grains are a fave treat that's readily gobbled up by chickes and turned into a premium roast in just a few short months

The other option is that he does not like your beer. ;)

Here's mine. Had alot of responses. Get 6 free range eggs each brewday. In fact my egg-lady is coming round today.
You need to register with freecycle first.
