As I understand it, munich malt can be used as replacement for Amber if twice as much is used but will it produce a similar flavour?
I brewed my 2nd AG using Amber and whilst it tastes great, it took an age to mellow out. I am hoping to replicate this beer but for it to be ready sooner.
Amber malt replacement
Re: Amber malt replacement
will be a dif taste - always seen biscuit mentioned as a match for amber rather than munich.
Munich is lovely though and adds a great malty depth (and deep colour in higher proportions).

Re: Amber malt replacement
I found the same thing with my amber, I wouldn't say that Munich will give you the same taste, it is a nice way to add some malty flavour though and doesn't need as much patience.Scotty Mc wrote:Amber and whilst it tastes great, it took an age to mellow out.
Re: Amber malt replacement
cheers chaps. I'm going to try the brew again at some point and replace the amber with munich and see what happens. After all, I'll still have 70-odd pints of beer!
