Extract rates of various malts

Post by david r » Sun Feb 06, 2011 11:39 am

Hi all, 1st post here for me. Been brewing a few years now, im based in Kent and my brew buddy is in Essex.

I would like to know the extract rates on some of the minor ingredients, or be guided as to where i might find this information. The malts in particular are as follows:

Amber Malt
Roasted Barley
Torrefied Wheat
Unmalted Wheat
Flaked Oats
Special B

Most supplier websites dont print the extract and the information is never on the packs so a little unclear as to these.
Your help would be appreciated.
Thanks
David

There is some info at

http://www.homebrewtalk.com/wiki/index.php/Malts_Chart
http://www.howtobrew.com/section2/chapter12-4-1.html

But it's all educated guesswork unless you get the numbers for the batch you are using.

I normally use Warminster's malt. Their extract figures can be found in the .pdf files, which you can download here.
