Do I just add treacle into the boil straight from the tin.

You may want to dissolve it in some hot wort/water as otherwise it might sink and scorch on the element. Personally I'd add sugars etc at the end of the boil as you get better hop extraction that way (a weaker wort during the boil) and you only need to sterilise the sugar and 5 minutes will do that.
