Malt in South London

Good Afternoon,

Lengthy story short, i'm due to walk my step father through the all grain home brewing process on Sunday. Thanks to an incident with some Mice and a spectacularly busy day at work i've found myself 4Kg of Maris Otter short for the weekend, well past the cut off time for delivery from online sources and with no known local suppliers.

So - does anyone know of any sources in South London/Surrey (i'm based on wondrous Croydon) that carries a reasonable stock of crushed malt, is open Saturday and wouldnt be averse to me collecting? There are a couple of shops that are a little drive out from me but to my knowledge they dont stock Grain.

Any help greatly appreciated (and if i've posted this in the wrong place - sorry!)

closest I can think of is East Grinstead Home Brew, although it's about 20 mile away. No idea about their prices though.

Ditto to East Grinstead HB. Parking is a bit of a git but if you have any issues use the docs surgery car park that is about 50 yds away from the shop

Appreciate the information - it is actually the one I was thinking of but I didn't think they did 'ingredients' as such - does anyone know? The last time I visited I bought my first kit beer and didnt really look very hard as I didn't understand what all the other stuff was!

According to the website they sell Grains and Hops, you could give them a bell.

And if not, then the Home Brew Shop in Aldershot is also a top place for all sorts of exciting things. Quite a bit further for you than the Grinstead shop, but they are one of the better, wider stocked places so if you also wanted something a bit less common for yourself... (he says, speaking as a not especially infrequent visitor from 150miles away - oh the power of homebrew..

definitely Cheers - just down the road in Cheam. Would call first to double check he's defo there, but they always have plenty of grain

I'm sure you're already sorted, but you could always try a local micro-brewery.

I source all my grain and hops from one near me. Works out much cheaper and I get a few tips and info thrown in.
