Are you a member of the CBA? There are meetings in your neck of the woods so that might provide a few like minds.

Always up for a bargain seeing as the HBS are a bit thin on the ground round here. Thought the dove had a shop? Never ventured in though .
Just like trying new ideas!
Re: Bulk buys down Suffolk way?
Yea theres only three HBS I know about here. One in stowmarket which has basically nothing in. Theres two now in Ipswich, th Dove which is not too bad. Its my local and I get on with the landlord, so I have been getting bags of grain from his. However he only has crushed grain, and only base malts most the time. The other is Brewers Barn, and although the guy is really friendly and helpfull, the prices are waaay too much for me. I think their cheapest sack of 25kg malt is around £40

Course there's always Andy down at colchester homebrew. Not the cheapest, but not unreasonable. Don't know if he does sacks though

Its a bit of a schlep I know but I don't suppose you know anyone who goes up to north Norfolk? If you do maybe you could deal with the maltsers at Branthill Farm near Wells....

You might want to contact Phil at wibblers brewery in Mayland Essex. ... Yeah it's a bit of a trek, but he started out as a homebrewer and is happy to supply malt, hops and 'chemicals' to us

Re: Bulk buys down Suffolk way?
You could try Simpson's near Diss - not as far as Crisps, and their malt is good!
Or go over to Manningtree to the Munton's maltings.
So, the Dove is a brewpub now, is it?
asd.

Re: Bulk buys down Suffolk way?
Well Ive sent an email to Muntons, Branthill Farm and Simpsons so far just waiting on a reply.
And yea the dove opened up a little, very little, micro just across from them, on the back of the homebrew shop. They have I think 4-5 beers they brew for the pub at the moment,

Re: Bulk buys down Suffolk way?
Hi,
I have a few fresh sacks of Simpson's malt at the moment - 25 Kg each of Maris Otter, Munich, Pilsner, Wheat and Crystal Rye - all crushed -- plus lots of old but good chocolate malt. Also 5Kg each of East Kent Goldings and Columbus - both 2012 season.
If you are interested in a few Kg of malt(s) or g of hops at cost give me a PM - I'm in Norwich.
Simon.
