Hi all
I've recently read that the MFB special aromatic malt is a base malt closer to the traditional amber malt than the modern more roasty versions. Does anybody know of a shop in the UK that might sell it?
You can find it in this list:

MFB special aromatic malt? Any UK shops?

I've never heard of that malt until now. Maybe worth contacting one of the UK suppliers such as Rob at the Malt Miller? He might be able to get hold of some for you.

The malt miller sell Dingemans Aromatic malt, used it myself, very nice.

Regular aromatic malt (Dingemans) is around 50EBC. This particular aromatic malt is closer to 10EBC, more like Vienna malt.

So historic amber malt wasn't particularly well kilned compared to what we call amber now?
I've seen the MFB mentioned before by Kristen England in Ron Pattersons Lets Brew series, is that where you got it from? I never bothered looking out for it, it's interesting how low in colour it is compared to what we would call amber now. How is it different from modern Mild malt, which is similar in colour at least?

Yeah, I got that from the Let's Brew. It is darker than mild malt, which is just slightly darker than regular pale malt (but lighter than Vienna). I've never got to try this stuff so I don't really know what it's like!
