Intrest in Malting Company of Ireland Stout Malt

Post by beerlover1983 » Tue May 20, 2014 7:41 pm

Just putting a question out there if anyone else is intrested in getting a their hands on this malt .
Im currently trying to get some myself after hearing about how great it was in a stout on chop and brew.
As seen here where they explain the great benefits of this malt http://chopandbrew.com/2014/04/29/chop- ... tout-fest/

But it seems thats its easy to get in the states but not here.

Ive looked into getting some direct but shipping is high for one bag.I have contacted rob at the malt miller who is willing to get in but said its best to get a whole pallet as cost is same.
I said to make it worthwhile i would ask on here if there was others intrested in giving this great sounding malt a try ?

Just to add im not linked to the company who make this malt just a homebrewer is keen to try this malt out for myself .

Irish Stout Malt is characterized by plump
kernels with very low protein and high extract.
The kilning temperature is kept low (82-84 ̊C)
resulting in a low colored base wort with higher
enzyme levels. The Irish Stout Malt is a versatile
malt that performs well in the brewhouse.
Typically used as the base for the top tier Irish
Stout brands, it can be used in almost any
application where traditional English type malts
are preferred

I'd be interested in trialling a few KGs, with a view to buying more.

I'm not most. ;-)

I reckon Rob should just get a pallet, it'll sell. It has a good shelf life and sounds great, and loads of craft brewers are looking for new twists.

I'd try enough for a test brew, say 6kg. Would buy a sack if I liked it.

Same here.. although I would have to personally bring it over as shipping would be a killer.

I've been using it exclusively for 2 months. It's great! Mt drains really well, and it has a nice neutral flavour. I like a dryer beer and at 64-66c it certainly is dry. Don't think we will use any other pale again. It's used in all my beers, Inc porter American ipa and American gold/pale ale.

Bumping this up would love a group buy if others intrested.I hear nothing but good things for this malt yet find no one in the uk stocking.

They now have a lot of price options but a single bag is alot still.A group buy and with the price of the euro it could come down alot.
