Re: Rye malt
I've used 10% rye malt, along with lager, wheat and caramalt and cascade/amarillo/chinook hops, fermented with Notty, and it turned out great. The rye added a nice dryness and spice character.

Bril, thank you. I thought it ought to work. I've got some Wai-iti and Keyworth Early coming from Malt Miller and I'll use saison yeast and I'm looking forward to it already

Re: Rye malt
Last year I brewed a rye bitter with 20% rye malt that came out pretty good.
I'm just here for the beer.

Re: Rye malt
I do a summer ale with 5% malted rye to 95% pale. It's one of my regular beers. I've heard that with rye being a huskless grain, it gets quite sappy and causes stuck mashes. However, in small quantities it doesn't seem to be a problem or at least I've never experienced any difficulties.

Once, during Prohibition, I was forced to live for days on nothing but food and water.

Intersting to note. I agree that at low quantities it sholdnt be an issue but I'll cut it with the pale malt to spead it around.Fuggled Mind wrote:I do a summer ale with 5% malted rye to 95% pale.
