HOBGOBLIN HOPS

Post by TAXMACKEM » Sat Nov 24, 2007 1:42 pm

Hi all,

I really fancy doing a Hobgoblin, but fancy trying Progress hops, would it be ok to swap them for the Fuggles in Orfy's recipe and adjust the IBU'S ? Would it dramatically affect the flavour?

According to ye holy Almanac the brewery use Progress hops anyway instead of Fuggles, or at least they used to

Yes I think you're right Daab, I've had a look around and it seems Progress was used ,but has been superceded by Fuggles

The HG recipe has mix of Fuggles and Styrian,if I replace both of these with Progress, can anyone suggest how the taste might change?
