Preparing Hop Plant for Winter

As my hop plant has supplied me with its crop I am wondering what should I do with it as winter draws it.

Do I leave it as it is (with a small amount of trimming) or should I chop it down at ground level so that it will grow in again next year

Cut it down to ground level and wait until next May time
