I know, I spotted this the other day. :D They now have all the ingredients needed to make SNPA 8)

I think this will be my next brew, using the recipe on the Northern Brewer forum.

Were you thinking along the same lines Tribs?

Yep, I plan to brew BeerFan's recipe at some point.

However, since I have commited myself to brewing several other recipes (I have ingredients on order) it may be some time before I get around to it.

I brewed a SNPA-ish beer today with Centennial for bittering, Northern Brewer for flavour and 70 grams of Cascade at the end. Looks good 8)

Might pick up some Magnums..

I'm not saying I know better than Sierra Nevada or the guy that posted the recipe or anything :P , but I wouldn't go for the 1.7 lb of 60L crystal for a SNPA clone. That would give you a dark brown beer and probably an FG above the one on the SN website. I used 350g of CaraPils & 150g 40L Crystal (~70EBC) and the colour looks about right.

If I don't make the beer then someone else will...

I have to second mysterios opinion, it seems to me that 1.7 lb of 60L would make a beer darker than it should be, 40L seems more appropriate.

I just tried a great bottle of SNPA tonight, I definately appreciate the flavour a lot more now since I've started homebrewing. I remember trying some a year and a half ago and thinking it was way too aromatic and bitter.

I know what you mean regarding appreciating tastes/aroma. The only down side is now when I buy a pint out and about with my pals I am often disappointed with the blandness of the ale :D

too true, it's nice to be able to tell the difference as opposed to being sold on Million £££ marketing budgets though.
