Adnams use Columbus for bittering and Cascade and Citra at the end and dry hop with Citra to finish.clarets7 wrote:Well I'm drinking a beer loosely based on Adnams Ghostship, that uses Crystal Rye and the hops are Chinook, Motueka and Citra. Very nice it is too.

Re: Hops for a rye PA?
Thanx Rooster that hop info will come in handy when i come to doing a Adamns ghost ship clone. I am going to make st peters Ruby Red clone next month i can't find any info on what yeast st peters use it's really frustrating. I had a couple of pints of Adamns Broadside very nice pint don't they use boadicea hops in a lot of they beers? Have any of you guys tried Archer hops yet? If so how where they? Aroma ect.
Re: Hops for a rye PA?
"Brewed with Pale Ale and Chocolate malt and First Gold hops, Broadside is a dark ruby red beer rich in fruitcake aromas, almonds and conserved fruit." From their website.
Re: Hops for a rye PA?
I use First Gold a lot myself very nice hop. I am brewing I.P.A. now where I used 85g of First Gold and the rest will Be going into dry hop. First Gold is one of Britain's finest hops.
Re: Odp: Hops for a rye PA?
For last 6 months the pub I claimed my local had Ghost Ship on tap and I had many pints of it because it was the most hoppy beer available. I'd never say this beer was dry hopped, nor it saw any significant late hop addition so this news come as big surprise. Good beer anyway.orlando wrote:Adnams use Columbus for bittering and Cascade and Citra at the end and dry hop with Citra to finish.clarets7 wrote:Well I'm drinking a beer loosely based on Adnams Ghostship, that uses Crystal Rye and the hops are Chinook, Motueka and Citra. My source is impeccable about the hops used. I don't know what Adnams do exactly so you may be right to be surprised, the dry hopping was suggested to me as a way of getting that lovely aroma up front and centre. I am visiting the brewery again soon so will endeavour to get to the truth.zgoda wrote:For last 6 months the pub I claimed my local had Ghost Ship on tap and I had many pints of it because it was the most hoppy beer available.
