Hop tea

Post by Troutman47 » Wed Mar 30, 2016 6:34 am

I've just made an Amber pale ale and used 139g of cascade in at 10mins from the end.
I'd like to add a hop tea instead of dry hopping and was thinking of adding it into the bottling bucket prior to bottling.
My thought was 40g cascade in a litre of boiled water.

Is that ok?
How long should I steep it for?
Any other thoughts welcome.

Cheers

How large is your batch?
Beer is my drug of choice.
I don't need anger management classes, I need people to stop pissing me off.

25 litres and should come out at 5.5%, so I don't mind a litre of hop tea to water it down a bit

So, I decided to take a litre of wort out of the fermenter, add the priming sugar, bring up to the boil and add 40g of cascade.

I boiled for 10 mins, steeped for 20 mins then strained through a sieve into the bottling bucket to cool ready for bottling the next day.

The hop flavour in the beer is spot on what I wanted but, it's cloudy from the hop tea!
I'm sure this will clear in time but is there anything I can do to prevent it happening in the first place?
