The vac packer I use is this one, i'd recommend it highly to anyone.

I have just ordered one of these as always meant to get round to buying one. Which bags do you use and do you have a link? I bought the below which I think should be ok for 100g or less at a time. They will be in the freezer so the only day light they will see is when opening and resealing if need be.

2015 HOP UPDATE

I've been chasing the hop merchant for a new price list of 2015 hops, I called today and had a chat with one of the nice fellows there. Holy sh*te, this is worse than expected. Basically he said the only American 2015 hops that us non contracted folk were going to see was Cascade and maybe some Columbus!!! Literally everything else is gone already to the breweries with advance contracts, much of what they are getting is substitutions for what they ordered. They still have some 2014 stock but its very limited (see below).

They have good stocks of Engligh hops (sadly these dont really float my boat and i'm still left with EKG from the last order!).

So what are the options?

2015
Cascade (US)
Columbus (US)
Dr Rudi (NZ) (11-14 Lemongrass, pine, grassy)
Waiamea (NZ) (16-19 Tangerine citrus Pine)
Magnum (GER) (12-15 Great bittering hop, lets you save your fancy hops for aroma hops in more brews!)
Northern Brewer (GER) (5-9 Spicy Resinous herbal)
English hops (First gold, Brammling Cross, WGV are there so far)

2014 Summit (US)
2013 Ahtanhum (US)

Hardly the exciting list of a new hop season!?!

Based on my experience of what people want and what I think are actually the kind of hops you would like to have a load of, I think its probably going to be a case of waiting til the end of the month and getting some 2015 Cascade and Columbus, with maybe some 2014 Summit and 2015 Magnum.

What do people think? Should be able to do Cascade, Columbus, Summit and Magnum for the same prices as before.

Personally I vote to stock up on Cascade (great in everything, can never have too much) and Columbus (good bittering, good aroma with cascade - a mix of 75:25 with cascade makes something similar to Centennial)

OOooh more hops... but I haven't used the last lot of Summit, which is lovely... or the next two purchases after that one...but Cascade & Magnum are tempting (as is leftover EKG), as I already have a lump of Columbus in the freezer.

Then again, in order to use the amount of hops I have, with my batch size, I may not need the Magnum bittering hop addition at all :D
Ready to go: Malt extract, grain, yeast and a freezer full of hops.
Fermenting: Nowt.
Conditioning: Nelson's Revenge.
Drinking: Stop Wining, Firsty Gold, DarkMun, Yankee, Porter, ApAht, Cider, Mead, Tripel, Elderflower beer, Gluten Free, beer, wine, port, gin, beer, wine, port, gin...
