Mount Hood

Last week staying at the mother in laws I called in at the homebrew shop in Stockport, I stocked up on various supplies and on impulse I bought some Mount Hood hops (I liked the name) :?
Has anyone used them before?
What are they like? Any recipe suggestions?

where exactly is this hbs in Stockport?

I'm there a few times a week and I could call in for supplies...

I've used Mt. Hood quite a bit and like them very much. Mt. Hood are derived from the Hallertau family of hops and compare very favorably with the German varieties IMO, having a nicely mellow flavor and aroma. Obviously they are a good choice for lagers but I have also had success blending them in ale recipes. Cheers!

I think I recall being told on a brewery tour that Palmers in Bridport, Dorset had used them for a while in their ales when they couldn't get Fuggles they liked.

I have used Mount Hood a fair bit, in single hop variant brews or blended with other varieties and I like them very much. I use them more or less as I would Goldings and Fuggles, and they give a citrus type finish but rather subtle, not at all overpowering. I have used them both for ales made with only pale malt and for other more robust brews with equally good results.

It's along Buxton Road, quite near to the railway station I think, I've only been there a few times it's easy to miss. It stocks a fair few things though.

Thanks for the other ideas, I've used Hallertauer hops with cascade before to make a sort of american beer, so I might try the Mount Hood with them, see what happens.
