does anybody has harvesting his hop, or are all the hop been destroyed by the slugs, pests and deseases in UK ? :lol:

I've got two bags full in the freezer from a friends hop plant harvested this month 8)

Using them this weekend.

He layed them out on newspaper in his loft for a few days in the hot weather.

I've dried hops in my airing cupboard before, doesn't take very long at all.

JY - they're First Gold, a dwarf hop variety. Close to Goldings but with higher alpha, I'm going to use 8% as the estimate for my recipe.

I'm going to harvest mine tomorrow, but i'm not so happy than last year with it (didn't have enough time to look after :( )
the columbus didn't grow well, but the Hallertauer magnum is very good (they've very big cone, double size), i'll get also some saaz 8)

Mmmm... I really must have a go at this although my garden has a small slime trail on the way to it that spells out "slug and snail paradise this way"... :shock:

minkey - a few of us got ours from a beer shop in Horsham (the guy will post the plants also).

He sells them from the begining of April. They come as plants, rather than the root, which saves a lot of hassle. They cost about £2 per plant plus £2 postage/packing, which is a bargain 8)
