Nelson Sauvin

Post by toylander » Sat Apr 11, 2015 11:41 am

For my next brew I like the sound of the Nelson Sauvin single hop ale in the Greg Hughes book.

The problem I am having is getting hold of Nelson Sauvin hops. Are they out of season or something as every home brew supplier I try is out of stock?

Has anyone tried making this beer and what was it like?

Thanks,

John

It's a great ale, I made it last year. NS are notoriously hard to get hold of. I guess the crop is quite small and Brewdog buy up most of it for Punk.

If anyone's not come across the ebay shop mentioned by Dean above - it's great. Great prices and swift delivery.

That price is par for the course as far as I can see. But the OP is right, darned difficult to find at the mo.

EDIT: Just checked with the Homebrew Shop and they have no stock of leaf or pellet.

I think they'd be harvested the 2015 crop now and we'll see them available soon.

Given their rarity of these, and their relative uniqueness, I do like to pick up a couple of packets when they appear, knowing I'll use them some time in the year.

Just checking my receipts - The Homebrew Shop sold me Nelson Sauvin 2014 at £3.80/100g for pellets less than 2 months ago.
