Dry hopping with loose leaf hops

Anyone doing this? I've not dry hopped with leaf for years and always used to bag them up but would prefer to avoid having to do that if anyone else is finding success throwing them in the fermenter loose.

I've done it in the past, without a problem.

Although it improves utilisation if you put them in a weighed bag and sink them.

I've never had a problem with infection with either way, which comes up as a concern with some.

Can't see how there'd be any different concern with infection vs pellet.

It's possible but try to stick to t90s for FV hopping. Leaf form a bit of a raft in the headroom and give bacteria a nice wet surface area to grow on - much better in a sealed full vessel like a keg or cask. They're ideal for use with a keg hopper
T90s tend to sink into the beer avoiding that problem, and the utilization is higher, so it makes sense to use them. Just bung a Syphon filter on the tube when racking, job done!
