Any views on this? It's the cheapest dried yeast at the LHBS and so far I have found it to be very tolerant of varying fermentation temps, more so than WYeast London Ale and Nottingham which are the others i have tried. The WYeast stopped really quickly as the temp dropped just below the recommended range, and the Nottingham blew the top of the fermenter 3 times when it got too hot. Obviously I'm working on controlling my fermentation temps.

Buying W34/70 in 500g sachets comes in at £0.83 for 11g, so its not all that much cheaper . . . I must find out how much the 10Kg sachets are Although I suspect that could be classed as over pitching

FWIW, I was refering to yeast generally.

S04's a good all round yeast and Paul at the Barley Bottom can give you a good price if you buy a few sachets and it will come in a lot cheaper than 99p.

The fermentis lager yeasts are about double the price of the ale yeasts in the 500g packs. The ale yeasts are around £15 and the lager £30-40.
