Jim's Yeast Propogation Method

Post by iowalad » Sat Feb 03, 2007 4:39 am

Jim,

I am giving your method for propogating yeast a go.

My 1/2 gal starter is fermenting out nicely (Thames Valley). Obviously I have a bit of break material at the bottom of my fermenter. Do I need to wash the yeast when I seperate out into the six smaller batches to remove this material?

I don't wash the yeast when I split it, but it wouldn't do any harm - it's just an extra job!
