Rehydrating Yeast.

Post by Orfy » Mon Dec 18, 2006 9:49 pm

I use dried yeast and am happy with the results so at present I don't feel a need to go to liquid yeasts. I know to get the old blow off tube going crazy then making a 1l starter is the way to do it but this is what I do.

When brewing the first thing I do is start fill the water boiler and start heating the mash water. The second thing I do is make sure my dried yeast is happy. my yeast.

I sanitise a glass. fill 3/4 with preboiled water at 25c add a teaspoon of sugar then the yeast, cover with cling wrap and leave in a warm place.

The result at the time of pitching is happy yeast.
