Using yeast from previous brews

Are there any of advantages from using the sedimented yeast form bottled ale apart from the cost element

If you're trying to clone the beer in question then using the original and genuine yeast helps. BUT be careful harvesting yeast from bottle conditioned ales, some breweries use a different "bottling" yeast in the bottle to that used for primary fermentation. Using the bottling yeast for primary fermentation can yield nasty beer. You have to do your research when choosing a brew to harvest.

Sorry I may have missled you
I have just brewed my first AG and bottled it is still very young but I am excited and enjoying it.
Not sure about the bitterness may a little too much but still very nice taste like a real beer.
Used Nottingham yeast very solid on the bottom of the bottle.
This is the sediment I was refering to

I have used yeast from my own bottled beers in the past.
If you manage to get a good yeast that isn't readily available, reculturing from the bottle sediment is a good way of keeping the strain going IMO.
So long as your sanitation procedure is good there shouldn't be a problem 8)
