Splitting Wyeast

Post by Russ » Fri Mar 09, 2007 7:18 pm

Hi

I got a Wyeast which I want to split as per DaaB's method. I'ts been in a demi john now for 10 days and fermentation now very slow.............. The gravity of the wort is 1020 (started at 1040)

Is it now the right time to split or wait till it drops afew more points??

I used some Wherry extract (OK! with hindsight not a good idea? ) to make the wort so it may be stuck

I drank the sample out of the hydrometer jar, tasted pretty good :)

Cheers

Sorry Jim!

Credit where it's due for your method of splitting the yeast, a great thrify idea (my favoritre type!)

So if it all happens early should be ok to split and fridge now?

Cheers
