I know in the fridge and stuff. But what is the shelf life? Can you freeze yeast?

I once found a site with detailed instructions for preserving yeast, but I lost the link and can't find it again. :rolleyes:

I'm sure you can freeze yeast, though. I'm not sure how long it lasts, but I would think we're talking several months.

You can preserve yeast in a sucrose solution without freezing. Some people preserve yeast on slants using wort agar. Other people freeze yeast in glycerin or sucrose solution. There are many, many ways of keep a live yeast culture.
