Schneider yeast

Evening All,

A quick question for you all - I've read previous posts indicating that the Schneider bottling yeast is in fact the primary strain also (?). Has anybody had any experience of recovering this from a bottle and if so how did the subsequent brew measure up?

Their Aventinus is so I would suppose so

I've tried a couple of times, usually ending up throwing it as it ended up infected. I might have another go now as I've access to a proper lab. Both Whitelabs and Wyeast do this as a liquid yeast as well though

I have recovered this yeast from bottles and I have to say that it behaved like the primary strain, but it was over 15 years ago so I can't guarantee that today's bottled shneider yeast is the primary strain.
