Has anyone had any success propagating moorlands hens tooth yeast?
If so what traits does the yeast carry through to your ales?
I'm looking to brew a bodies clone but I really don't think the malt and hops alone are going to give me what I'm looking for and the last wheats vial I used ,although very good' again wasn't close to what I remember either!!!!

Re: Culturing yeast
In my early days of brewing I tried to culture some Hens tooth yeast but failed badly. Which is a real pity, as I now have my technique sorted out but unfortunately trying to find a bottle of Hens tooth is like finding teeth on a hen.
Flavour from memory was chewy toffee/caramel, hint of high alcohol, so in they respect, a bit like a Belgian beer.

Re: Culturing yeast
Ive tried twice now and despite using three bottles with a good bottom covering of yeast I've had no success!
I presume the bottles must be pasteurised after conditioning, it's getting harder to get a good, healthy bottle conditioned beer with a useable commercial yeast I think, certainly here in Ireland anyway!
