West Coast Ale Yeast

Post by Mashman » Wed Mar 29, 2017 5:21 pm

Have just pitched a pack of The Malt Millers West Coast Style Ale yeast in a Pale Ale. Not used it before. Has anyone any comments on this yeast?

It's repackaged BRY97 apparently which makes a good clean ale imo, clears much better than us05 although it can take a wee while to get going, which is why he repackaged it in 15g packets instead of 11g - it shortens the lag time a bit. I've not used his repackaged yeasts but I've liked bry97 when I've used it - I didn't get much lag when rehydrating it

Used it a few times. Never had a problem and didn't find it particularly laggy compared to mangrove jacks west coast etc.

I made a hoppy beer just lately with it, lovely stuff. So good I've made the same again....which I hardly ever do.
