Just looking for recommendations on dry yeast for an English bitter. I really love the vanilla type flavours you get in Hobson's Best.
Have used s-04 but I find it pear droppy/bready. Had a packet of MJ UK Dark Ale but the resulting beer was quite poor. Basically just looking for something with a nice pleasing ester profile if anyone has experiences with some of the others (new mj yeasts, Windsor/London esb, crossmyloof, etc)
Cheers!

Re: Dry English Yeast
I only tried CML Real Ale once, admittedly my first ever brew so maybe my error/s but it had an odd flavour profile I didn't enjoy which I haven't had in any other brew and has not mellowed 6 months later; other feedback will be interesting.
Several other brews of English bitter with MJ 36 Liberty Bell, starts very fast but some stalled or under attenuated, flavour profile to me seemed good; it is my go to dry yeast at the moment as I brew mainly that style so far, but I look forward to more experienced contributions.
