Just looked at my WLP833 starter for my CAP and the damned thing has a thin white layer of mold over the surface of the liquid, so thats down the drain

Just put 20ml of a sterile starter into the Whitelabs phial to free up what was left (I always keep them in the fridge afterwards so that I can culture up a couple of slants etc). Hopefully this should be fermenting well tomorrow morning so that it can go into 200ml of wort, and then I can step that up again tomorrow evening to a bigger starter. Won't have quite so much yeast as I planned, but a good active starter should achieve my aims.
That'll teach me to try and do yeast starters in the house
