TC in a 25l fermenter...

Post by dan_olo » Thu Nov 01, 2007 11:43 pm

I only want to make 5l of the stuff but doing it in my 25l FV would be so much easier as it's got a tap and a bottling stick attached. Would this ruin the stuff or do I need to stop being such a wimp and just go for it?

Hmmm... I would do but only want to do 5l of the TC to start with just in case it's HORRIBLE. Plus lack of bottles / pressure barrel makes a 25l run a bit difficult at the moment.

How would I bottle the stuff if I brewed in a demijohn? Would I need one of those syphon kits?

I syphon my tc out of my plastic 5l water bottle fermenter with a tube and tap. fill it with water dump the end in the fermenter get the tap lower than the bottle open the tap run off the water, bottle the TC. I do it outside so a little spillage is no problem. Then cap the bottles and wash them down.

you can stick a bottling stick on the end instead if you have one

Similar method to Prolix but I just stick a tea towel under the tubing to catch the drips.

I've just got some tubing with an in-line tap.
