hi there.

i would like to make some homemade cider from scratch rather than using any kit.

i want to make 40 pints, can folks reply some tips and quantities what i would need etc. i want to start with whole apples. which apple are the best, Bramley's??

etcetera, there are dozens of threads about making real cider floating around. Those two just happened to be on THIS PAGE.

You need: a mix of cider apples (bittersweets and bittersharps, or an appropriate mix of eaters/cookers/crabs) and a press of some sort.

Try reading 'Real Cider Making on a Small Scale' by Michael Pooley and John Lomax, it outlines the basics and is only a fiver on Amazon.
