Maybe I should have put a dead rat in this one. I have had a race over the afternoon which had filled the airlock with yeast. Normally, I would replace the airlock, but having only one at present, I am not quite sure what to do...

Day #10 - Now clearing slowly in a clearing tank. The top few cm is clear with the cloud haze descending very slowly.

How much sugar/L should I add at bottling stage to give a little fizz ?

Well my first batch has definitely cleared after 5 days but still has some haze. I want to produce a clear brew. So I'm considering filtering into the bottle or fining with gelatine, (as this is how apple juice is traditionally cleared).

Anybody got any thoughts or opinions?

Sounds like you had a boozy day!

I'm currently on Hogs Back ale - brought a case with me to my parents place.

The cider is back at home and should have cleared upon my return!

We've got snow here :) (northants).

Not yet Andy,

I've had three lots of guests over the period including my kids and have hence been a tad busy cooking about 6, 6-8 person meals with all the trimmings etc.

Everything went off pretty well and the turkey has finally been rendered down for stock last night which was turned into a soup this morning that was eaten lunchtime today.

Hoping to bottle the racked 1st brew tomorrow into 4, 1-litre fizzy mineral water bottles tomorrow, when I will sample the spare. The second brew has finished and has already started to clear in the fermentation 'john. However, I have guests again tomorrow and a fiancee who is brimming with the need for me to redeem myself having coped with my kids for two days... ;)

Ahh! Christmas.

Nonetheless, the Airhockey I bought my kids was a great success and my properly misspent youth means I was able to teach them a trick or two... :D
