Post fermatation sediment uses?

Post by peds » Sun Sep 01, 2013 1:30 pm

Hello everyone, long time no speak,

I've just bottled 4 litres of clear cider (left to settle over the summer) and have the grungy bits sat looking at me from the bottom of the DJ. Can this be used for anything? As a starter in bread baking or something? Thanks guys.

I was spurred into action for bottling the cider yesterday, as I need the demijohn for my second batch of cherry plum brandy...

Not sure about cider but left over beer sediment would have too much other stuff apart from yeast and make bread taste nasty. You can top crop and use it for bread or use washed yeast.

Cheers for the reply bob3k, I figured as much but thought I should check. As you can probably tell, I'm still pretty much at the occasional and half-arsed stage of home brewing!

Fatbloke, I'll look into it!
