3 Gallons of Blackcurrant wine for £6.00

Post by steve28755 » Mon Aug 06, 2007 5:21 pm

I found this recipe a while back and it's proving very popular.
40 fluid oz of Ribena syrup
yeast. yeast nutrient
3 galls water
7 1/2 to 8 lbs of white sugar
citric acid
Dissolve the sugar in hot water. Add ribena and then rest of water.
(I use a 21 litre plastic bin with a lid for this)
Allow to cool and then add yeast, yeast nutrient and citric acid.
Put lid on bin and leave for 3 days.
Rack off into demi-johns.
Ferment to nearly dry or stop sooner if you like it sweet.
Clear and bottle. Should go to between 13 to 15%ABV

Hi John, the juice of 3 lemons but they cost 20p each so I use 3 table spoons of Tesco's lemon juice. Yes it's ribena syrup. If you buy the 2 litre one that should be ample.

Well my daughter said no to this "but you can make some Vimto wine if you like". Now there's a thought...

I thought about doing Ribena wine but the overall concensus on a wine forum was that it wasn't very good :?
