I am in the process of making this recipe below:
http://www.harvington.org.uk/hic/riceandraisinwine.html
It has been in the bucket for two weeks and I have just strained it into a demijohn. The problem is with all that rice and raisin in there when I strained it into the demijohn it was only about 60% full, even though I had followed the recipe. In the end I thought there is nothing else I can do but top it up with water and hope for the best.
Has anyone else made this wine, or perhaps has a similar problem with other wines with a lot of bulk fruit pulp etc?
Did I do the right thing in topping up with water? I thought there was just way to much air space in there to leave it.

Re: Rice & raisin wine advice
By topping up you dilute the strength and flavour.... but you would get three bottles out of a 60% full DJ.... its one of those things you just have to do one or the other. I would have topped up too for what its worth.
If you have that problem again maybe top up with 1/2 water and 1/2 whit grape juice. At least that way you are putting some flavour and sugar in to get back towards your original wine?
Good luck with the brew.
