thinking of getting some of these for christmas. present to myself sort of thing.
two questions though.
- Is there the same need to regulate temperature as beer during fermentation ? very quickly with the beer advice it gets to needing a temp controlled fridge is is it the same with wine ??
- Do you just store in recycled screw cap wine bottles ? happy to age for better flavour but doesnt that need corks ?
cheers fellas

Re: Wine kit peoples - 2 questions
I've never temp controlled wine just kept it between 18 to 20 degrees.
And I use screw top recycled wine bottles as long as you screw it on tight and don't open it till your ready to drink you'll be ok.

Hi fillet. I am just bottling my second batch.
I have temp controlled both to fantastic fermentations and finishes. However ... I know people that literally brew on the kitchen side and they swear by it. I haven't tasted their stuff so it might be swill but I think you will be good to go. From my experience wine is way for forgiving than beer. I ODd mine first run with campden, messed up my system so I was literally splash pouring between vessels at each racking, had a ton of sediment go in at bottling and.... it was absolutely amazing! so what you can read from that is IMHO just go with the flow I am sure it will be fine.
As to your other question I have so far just used beer bottles lol. I wanted to use screw caps but it seems people say they work the first time but eventually being cheap aluminium or whatever they lose their seal which I can imagine. You could always wrap some electrical tape around the seal for good luck?
