Re: Fantastic news!!
I don't know if it would work out for you but this company hires out equipment and might deliver. Suspect it will be expensive though; cheaper than buying but not if you do it every year. Have you tried ebay there is usually one on there.

bigdave wrote:Was in my LHBS yesterday. He sells presses for £210!! I asked about renting but he doesn't do that. he did say that the monks at Ampleforth Abbey will juice apples for you if you take them!!
The abbey will juice your apples for you but I think they take 50% of the juice, I have a 5.5 litre press but it would take ages to juice all the apples you should get off those trees. It's this one http://www.wineworks.co.uk/product/5-li ... eam-press/ it took me nearly all day to juice 5 gallons but you are welcome to borrow it, although I think you would be better off with a larger press as it's a real pain in the arse.
Cheers

Re: Fantastic news!!
That looks amazing but I doubt I could find £120+ before the end of the auction and tbh, by the time I'd covered the cost of the 500 mile round trip to collect, I could have bought one brand new.
Re: Fantastic news!!
I made a cider press without too much hassle a couple of years ago.
Then again I did have the wood for free, but if you can get hold of some good sized planks there's a lot of guided on building your own!

Went for £266 which, believe it or not, is a bargain.bigdave wrote:That looks amazing but I doubt I could find £120+ before the end of the auction and tbh, by the time I'd covered the cost of the 500 mile round trip to collect, I could have bought one brand new.

Re: Fantastic news!!
Maybe my 'fantastic' news was premature. The BIG tree looks to be a cherry tree and the birds have had most of them!! The other 2 trees are apple trees but one is quite small and the other seems to have very little fruit!!
