Cola lips 5.5%

Post by emanresu_reeb_tuol » Sun Jul 07, 2013 1:50 pm

Hi I remember drinking this in 1996 tasted very syrupy http://www.portmangroup.org.uk/?pid=25&level=2&bid=168
what I want to know do anyone have a recipe? could I use sodastream syrups to create this? also back then there were two dogs and hooch alco lemonade, could I recreate those as well using syrups? they were quite refreshing in the summer. =P~

you can make alcoholic water (aka wash, kiljun) and add the sodastream syrup to it. alternatively you can buy a cola flavoured syrup from some polish supermarkets which can be brewed as it is preservative free.

i have done the latter of the two and it turned out pretty well.
i have also made alcoholic lemon, using diluting juice. dont know how close to the original hooch they are though but still pretty tasty as a summer drink. in fact i am drinking apple & blackcurrant made from diluting juice just now. well tasty.

Sounds good do you have the recipe for the alcoholic lemon I want them fizzy too, with the alcoholic water wont that turn out over 5.5%? I don't want it too strong anything under 6% is good.

I found a no preservatives cola http://www.harveynorman.com.au/sodastre ... 500ml.html

i knew of this post, hence my comments about being able to use soda stream flavourings. not tried it myself, but not the biggest coke fan. i do like to experiment though.

for the lemon recipe, its dead easy.

1 x 750ml bottle double concentrate lemon flavour diluting juice.
400g sugar (this will give approx 5%)
yeast + nutrient

put juice and sugar into a pot and bring to boil, then simmer for 20 mins to burn off the preservatives.
put 2l cold water into demijohn and add the juice from the pot.
top up to 4 litre with more cold water.
add yeast and nutrient.
leave to ferment, top up once initial ferment has finished.
rack off into seperate demijohn before bottling.

this method works with any diluting juice, i have a summer fruits on the go and i am drinking apple & blackcurrant. next up is a 23l batch of orange & lemon or somethign similar.

Hello emanresu,
Don`t buy a Demijohn, buy 2 X 5Lt plastic bottles of water from Tesco, Aldi, etc. Use these as demijohns. Loose lid, no airlock, cover with a blanket and away to go! Obviously fill them with your brew first!

Could you top upto 5 ltr and use 500g of sugar to cope with the extra litre
