I am in the process of fermenting our first Cider, and hoping to clear it as much as possible. Times a bit of an issue as hoping to have it ready ASAP, but happy to have it as clear as it's going to be in the timeframe.
I plan to crash cool it down to .5*C as soon as it reached the SG iI'm after, I also have a big bag of Chillkleer. Now I cannot for the life of my fine dosage rates for his. I know you have to whisk it up and vigourously stir it into the cider for it to be effective, but I dont want to over do it...
Any one any experience on this?
Anyone used Bentonite, or Chillkleer?
Re: Anyone used Bentonite, or Chillkleer?
Just an update, from another forum, and numerous web searches it seems that its 1tsp per gallon.
Not as precise as I'd like really! Just cautious as I don't want to ruin 300L of tasty cider just trying to clear it.

My only experience of using Bentonite in for tanking basements or stabilising deep earthworks.
Surely we cant be talking about the same stuff?!

Re: Anyone used Bentonite, or Chillkleer?
Chillkleer is a Murphy's product isn't it? Have you tried contacting them for usage info (assuming there's no instructions with the stuff you have).

Yea will give them a call in the morning, should of done that first thinking of it =/
And nope just came in a sack. They dont have any datasheets on it or anything, which is odd as almost all their other products do.
