concentrated apple juice

Has anyone tried reducing or concentrating apple juice for TC, i was thinking that you could reduce 5 or 10 litres to approx half its initial volume and use this, that way you could circumvent the need for sugar to up the alcohol and you would end up with a really appley TC.
Anyone see any problems with this approach???

I can't see a problem with that. I reckon it'd save the hassle and energy to boil it if you went and bought some apple concentrate. Not sure if supermarkets sell it, but you can get it from wholefood shops.

I think it's more concentrated than what boiling to half its volume would create. From memory, it's meant to be diluted something like a ratio of 5:1. You could just add some, then test gravity, then keep adding till required OG is reached.

why not reduce a pint of juice by half, cool it and see if it tastes ok - i suspect that it may have taken on a cooked flavour. I think the commercially reduced stuff is reduced at low temps and in vacuum.
