With all due respect Blandford Fly is disgusting!

If you want to try a really nice ginger flavoured malt beer try tracking down some of Keystone's Gold Spice, it has to be my favourite pint at the moment.

They make it by adding stem ginger to the cask of their Gold Standard beer as I understand it.

I was lucky enough to attend Keystone's 1st birthday Party back in the summer and the beer (all of it) was truely excellent.
Gold Spice (4%ABV)
A light coloured beer with plenty of late Boadicea hops giving a refreshing citrus fruit taste. Stem ginger is then added to the cask to deliver a delicious ZING of fresh ginger.

Recent winner of Gold Award by Society of Independent Brewers.

"Award winning Gold Spice in cask and bottle is golden in colour with an emphatically ginger aroma. On the palate it's fresh and lively with the ginger more in the background, making way for tangy, hoppy ale character. Clever stuff ", (Ned Halley, "Its Fun to brew", West Country Life, The Western Daily Press, June 2007)

This is bubbling away now. A lot darker than the standard GB i have made in the past and will be much loser to a ginger flavoured malt beer. If you want a darker verison you could use dark malt extract or a tin of coopers dark ale or try steeping some darker spec grains - carafa, caramunich, choc or some dark crystal.
