Muppet attempts eldeberry wine!

Post by BlightyBrewer » Sun Nov 25, 2007 1:23 pm

I think I've messed up my eldeberry wine. It's been fermenting (in the airing cupboard) since september. The fermentation appeared to have finished, so I started to bottle (put one crushed campden tablet in the first demijohn prior to bottling). I filled the first bottle and though to myself that I should have checked the gravity! It was 1038!!

What a richard the third!!!

So, I think I have ruined it. What should I do? I put some yeast nutrient in the demijohns and put it back in the airing cupboard, but I think that the one demijohn that now has one crushed camden tablet + yeast nutrient will be very confused??!!

The free sulphite level will subside (as the molecules become bound, its free sulphite that prevents yeasties working)

so give it 24 -48 hoiurs and try this
