In time for Christmas?

Post by MightyMouth » Wed Dec 12, 2007 4:04 pm

Hi all,

I have to wait until Christmas for my first Kit brew because its my Christmas present. So, does anyone have a recipe for something easy and drinkable that I could make up in maybe a 5 litre water bottle with an airlock bunged in the top which would be ready by Christmas?

A TC would just about be ready for Christmas.

One week to ferment and one warm week to carbonate.

I assume by looking at your Sig that you are talking about a Turbo Cider.

I am a complete newbie so you wouldn't happen to have a recipe with detailed instructions would you?

apple juice + yeast + 1 weeks fermenting = turbo cider!

That simple huh? Can I just pour the yeast into the juice, add the airlock and leave it? no extra sugar or anything?

Thats depends how quickly and how alcoholic you want it :P
I tend to use 200g of sugar which comes out at (depending on the juice sugar content) about 7%

But yes, its about that simple :D

MightyMouth,

Welcome to the dark side of brewing...Mwaaahahahahaha!!!!

I found my first experimental brew to be quite satisfying to make. I am just not sure if it will be drinkable yet because I deviated from the recipe quite a bit. When making an "experimental" stick to the guidelines first and then have a little experiment of your own when you know what you are doing. I believe if you do a TC right, you get a dry, high ABV drink. Adding a little artificial sweetener can improve the palatability no end, so Curious-brew wrote somewhere.

It *probably* would.

I've only added artificial sweetener to my Atomic Lemon and Curiously Fruity so far, and both of those are still fermenting!

Well I have finally got 4L of TC on the go, I had to use wine Yeast from Wilcos, does this mean it will take longer? Should it turn out OK? Its not bubbling yet but only been 30 minutes. I've put an airlock in since this picture. Fingers crossed.
