Coopered Wooden Tankards

Post by Belto » Mon Aug 17, 2009 3:42 pm

A few weeks back I attended the Welland Steam Fare and wandered into the Craft tent.

My wife drew my attention to the woodeden tankards on sale.
I was not particularly interested, but after talking to this gent and handling the tankards I became warm to the the thought of owning one.

He is a retired skilled man who obtains scrap wood fom the merchants and craft them into a range of products using food safe varnishes and adhesive
My wife purchased one for my birthday.

It is truely a thing of beauty and a great pleasure to hold and drink from, only 275 grms in weight has a great lip to the tankard.
I chose the Walnut version with Brass Hoops.

One important benefit he nevered told me was that being wood, unlike glass/ceramics that quickly adapts to the ambient temperature, the beer holds it's temperature longer

Go to http://www.provenancecoopering.co.uk for a list of tankards available.

My wife paid about £25.00

Happy supping

:D That's my mind made up then! I was tossing up between Walnut, Oak or Cherry and Ash. As each of you two has one of the others, I'll get me a Cherry and Ash one! =D>

In fact, f**k it! What else am I waiting for? I'm getting my plastic out right now!

Cheers, all Image

Ideal for my occasionally cloudy beer.

Would make me feel like a Viking drinking out of one off them.

My 40th birthday present now sorted. =D>

I emailed the fella that makes then, I popped round to his gaff to buy one, he's a nice bloke and the tankards are top notch! Really well made, a lot lighter in weight than I though they would be,

well recomended =D>
